- Standing seam, concealed clip
- No exposed fasteners in the field. The panels move with temperature on their clips, which is what stops the fastener holes from wallowing out over twenty summers. The more expensive system and the one with the fewer long-run failure modes.

- Screwed through the face with a washered fastener. Substantially cheaper, faster to install, and honest about its trade: the washers are a maintenance item and the fasteners are the thing that eventually needs attention.

Decide whether metal is right for this roof
Complex geometry, a lot of penetrations, and shallow dormers all add cost and add risk on a metal roof. On the right house nothing else we install comes close. On the wrong one it is an expensive way to buy problems, and we say so.

Lay out the panels on paper
Panel runs, seam positions and trim are worked out before the order goes in. Metal does not tolerate being adjusted on the roof the way a shingle does.

Prepare the deck, then install
Anything wrong with the substrate shows through a metal panel forever. The deck gets flattened and repaired first.
Is a metal roof noisy in the rain?
Less than you are imagining, and more than an asphalt roof. The barn-roof sound people expect comes from metal fastened to open purlins with nothing behind it. Over a solid deck, underlayment and an insulated attic, it is a different noise entirely — but it is not nothing, and anyone telling you it is identical to shingles is overselling. If quiet matters to you, say so early and we will talk about the substrate rather than pretend the question does not exist.

How long does a metal roof take to install?
Longer than asphalt — typically several days rather than one, because the panels are cut and formed to your roof and the trim work is slow, careful and unforgiving. A simple gable goes faster than a roof with six valleys and three dormers.What changes the price?
Panel profile and gauge, the finish, and above all geometry. Every valley, hip, dormer and penetration is custom trim and custom labor. A simple roof in metal is a reasonable premium over asphalt; a complicated one is a large premium, and we would rather show you the number than surprise you with it.Will it dent in hail?
It can. Metal is far less likely to be functionally destroyed by hail than asphalt, and it is more likely to be cosmetically marked in a way you can see from the driveway. Some carriers treat cosmetic denting differently from functional damage and some policies exclude it outright — that is a question for your agent and your policy, not for us.Do I need a permit?
Usually, and it is a local answer rather than a state one. We pull it. It is worth asking specifically about metal in your jurisdiction, because published shingle exemptions — Cobb County's, for instance — are written around standard-tab shingle replacement and say nothing about a metal panel.What is the warranty on metal?
Two separate documents, as always. The panel and its finish carry the manufacturer's own written warranty with its own terms. Our workmanship warranty is ten years and covers how we installed it. Neither one is a lifetime promise and we will not describe either as one.
